Last night, I gave a presentation to a Toastmasters International group on Leadership.
There are certain qualities that make a great leader. Well, it is no
surprise that these same personality qualities are important
when it comes to managing your money. Applying the same
characteristics of an effective leader to manage your money
will accelerate your process to getting to financial independence.
It comes down to implementing these six personality qualities
of a leader that allows you to create your destiny with money.
1. Emotionally mature – Are you buying items to fill an
emotional void or are you purchasing things that you need in life?
2. Independent – Are your purchases based on trying to
keep up with the Joneses, where the Joneses are broke or
are you living your own life and secure with what you have?
3. Strong-willed – Are you out of control with your money,
freely spending it or are you strong-willed to stick to a
spending plan where you are in control of your money?
4. Courageous – Do you take safe risk by investing only
5% in one investment or do you invest all your money in
one investment that has the potential to lose it all?
5. Ambitious – Do you take action to make things
happen or do you sit around hoping things will happen?
6. Resilient – Do you let stress and adversity bring you down
leaving you feelings of depression or do you embrace stress
and adversity, springing you back to winning ways?
When I am coaching people on money, I work on developing
their inner qualities such as the leadership traits above.
Once the inner qualities are working, we can then work on
the outer strategies needed to win with money.
