The Philosophy of a Super Bowl-winning Coach

Did you watch the Super Bowl XLVIII?

If you did, you saw the Seattle Seahawks totally
dominate the Denver Broncos.  What you did not
see is what happened behind the scenes with
the Seahawks.

Pete Carroll, coach of the Seattle Seahawks,
used his Winforever philosophy and principles
to prepare and execute a winning game plan.
If you listened to Pete’s post-game interviews,
you can hear him mention some of his philosophies
like “It’s all about the ball” and “Finish”.

I was first exposed to his winning philosophy when
I met him a few years ago at a book signing for his
newly released book, WinForever.  I waited for the
big crowd to die down after everyone received their
autographed copy.  I introduced myself and asked
him about the essentials of motivating and coaching
people.

He is a very personable and down-to-earth kind of guy.
He was gracious enough to have someone on his staff
take down my contact information and keep in touch.
A few months later, I received a free invitation to the
first ever WinForever workshop at the Grammy Museum
in downtown Los Angeles.  At the event, myself and 60
other sports coaches from around the country were
exposed to his entire philosophy, rules, and principles
on how to be the best you can be to bring out the best
in others.

Here is a promotional video with a clip of me walking in
the workshop with Pete at 10 seconds into the
video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tGGARAdclQ

That evening, I diligently listened to Coach Carroll talk
about not just winning once, but winning year after year
after year.  He talked about having a positive mindset
and the power of vision, which is what I just wrote about
in last week’s newsletter.  He then went on to say, “If you
get your thoughts together and you commit them to
writing them down, showing people this is what I mean.
This is how exactly how I want to have it.  Something happens
to you.  You become more direct.  You become more clear.
You become more powerful.”

At that point, I knew I needed to create a winning system
like Carroll’s in order to help people win when it came to
their money.  He showed us what his focus was during
the week with daily themes for the team:

Tell the Truth Monday
Competition Tuesday
Turnover Wednesday
No Repeat Thursday,
and Review Friday.

If you read Chapter 12 of my book you can see
a similar focus theme that I wrote.  Finally, he put
emphasis on always finishing – do it better longer.
The light bulb went off in my head that night.
Thus, this was the night that Money on Your Terms
was born.

After the event, I began to work on Money on Your Terms
since I had the winning formula from Coach Carroll,
which he used to create a winning system with USC
Football and his first year as the Seattle head coach.

So, here is the philosophy I laid out in the book that
helped me win with money:

1. I am worthy to receive money
2. Money is always flowing to me
3. I treat my money with respect
4. I do what is honorable with my life and money
5. I invest my money wisely
6. I live a debt-free lifestyle
7. Financial independence is more important
to me than displaying high social status

These are the seven philosophies that can help
lead someone to become a champion of their
money.  I strongly believe that the number seven
is a symbol  for success.  So over the next seven
weeks, I will be going over each one of them in
detail to give you the framework on how
Money on Your Terms works.

After watching Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks
win Super Bowl XLVIII, it cemented in me that he has
a consistent winning system.  He was able to turn the
Seahawks around in four years and transformed them
into Super Bowl Champions.  He did the same thing at
USC.  So, I firmly believe Money on Your Terms has
the same road map to success by helping people
win forever with their money.
