Eliminate The Chaotic Frenzy

Is it possible to be in control of your money with the
chaotic frenzy that accompanies the demands we face each day?

With trying to make a buck, maintaining your relationships,
managing your household, and driving your kids to the
next soccer practice, who has time to keep track of finances?

Would you believe the Credit Card industry loves our chaotic
lifestyle?  They love the way we buy on emotion to medicate that
chaos with purchases that go on the card and then we are so busy,
we are late with the payment at the end of the month.

They love it so much that Credit Card companies collected
$17.8 billion dollars last year in late fees and over-limit fees,
according to data published by R.K. Hammer, a card industry
consultancy.

That is billions with a “b”…

The number was higher to the tune of $23.9 billion until
the United States Congress passed the 2009 reform law,
known as the CARD Act, that restricted the size of late fees
and forced Credit Card companies to offer an opt-in option
to over-limit fees.

Banks, as well, are happy with our busy lifestyles since they bring
in over $25 billion dollars a year in overdraft fees as the Center
for Responsible Lending reports.

These types of statistics show that people don’t pay attention
to the details required to win with money.  They lack the
wherewithal to practice good habits with money.  This is just dumb!
Why pay late fees, over-limit fees, and overdraft fees?

As my grandmother use to say, “That is like flushing money
down the toilet.”

When you live with Money on Your Terms, it is about taking
responsibility, having total clarity with your money as an
essential part of your everyday routine. Personal finance is
90% behavioral; it is the habits that we create with it that
will either make us rich or poor.

If you don’t currently have a system in place to keep track
of due dates for your bills then follow these simple steps to
take yourself from chaos to clarity with your monthly expenses.

The Steps:

1. Take out a sheet of paper and at the top write Bill Planner.
You will have one for each month. For example: January Bill Planner,
February Bill Planner, etc.  You can keep track of it on your
computer if you don’t want to bother with paper.

2. Write down every bill that is due each month. Write down your
mortgage or rent payment, car payment, credit cards, insurance,
cable & internet, utilities, etc.

3. Next to each payment item write down one of the following:

-If you pay your bills by mail then write the date 10 days
before they are due.

-If you pay through a bank’s online bill pay system then write the
date 7 days before they are due.

* Some people pay their bills as soon as they receive
them.  If you have that discipline then hats off to you.

4. Take your smartphone or cell phone out and record that date
in it.  Your phone will then alert you when to make the payment.
Other methods are to record the dates on your computer’s calendar
or your household calendar.

5. As you pay each bill, cross it off the list on your monthly
Bill Planner sheet.

Note: Today, many businesses offer automatic payment
withdrawal where they will withdraw the funds for bills
from your bank account.   I never will opt-in to this service
since I would be giving them complete control.  Besides what if
there is a discrepancy with the bill? You already gave them the
power to automatically take the money out. Remember it is
MOYT-Money on Your Terms, you never want to give anyone that
type of power over your money.

So, a Bill Planner system like this works wonders to keep
track of when your expenses are due. As you develop this
system of keeping track of your due dates, it will become a
normal routine for you each month.

The key is to: Start Now…

Forget the idea that you don’t have time to do this.

Say good-bye to those unnecessary fees and take control
of your life by developing clarity with money so you
can start to eliminate some of the chaos.  Once you get
a handle on it; it will transfer to other areas of your
life and all the chaotic frenzy will go away.
